Dr. Theo Batistas
Dr. Theo Batistas is a native of Northern Virginia and received his dental degree from the Medical College of Virginia, School of Dentistry in 1991. In addition, Dr. Batistas completed a one-year general dentistry residency at the Veterans Administration Medical College in the District of Columbia. He is currently a member of the Northern Virginia Dental Society, the American Dental Association, the American Prosthodontic Society and the Academy of General Dentistry and is a certified Invisalign provider. Dr. Batistas resides in Gainesville with his wife, Stephanie and their three children. Dr Batistas enjoys playing golf and reading in his spare time.
Although Dr. Batistas has always enjoyed providing General Dentistry to our community, in recent years he has chosen to expand into more specialized fields of dentistry. Dr. Batistas anticipated that in order to offer comprehensive dentistry to as many patients as possible, he needed more training in areas such as TMD (Temporomandibular Joint Disorders), Sedation Dentistry, full mouth reconstruction and Occlusion. This requires many hours of continuing education; however, Dr. Batistas recognized the need in the community for these services and has enjoyed the experience and knowledge the training has brought him.
Dr. Batistas is certified by DOCS (Dental Organization for Conscious Sedation) to perform oral conscious sedation, otherwise known as Sedation Dentistry. He treats patients who have a very real anxiety about having dental treatment performed. These patients are treated with TLC (tender loving care). Their fears are recognized and medications are chosen specifically for that patient. These medications are administered prior to and during their dental procedures while the patient is constantly monitored by our Sedation Team. Patients who previously could not even sit in a dental chair often have all of their dental treatment completed in just 1 or 2 comfortable visits. As the medication has an amnesiac effect, many patients state that they don't remember having been to the dentist at all. But they are saying this with beautiful, healthy smiles!
Dr. Tony Chehade
Dr. Tony Chehade is a graduate of George Mason University with a B.S. degree in Biology. He received his dental degree from Loyola University in Chicago. Dr. Chehade has also received advanced training in Periodontics from the Virginia Commonwealth University Medical College of Virginia. He previously served as a part-time clinical faculty member at MCV's Department of Periodontics. He is currently a member of the American Dental Association, the American Academy of Periodontology and the Northern Virginia Dental Society, where he also serves as an instructor of CPR. Like Dr. Batistas, Dr. Chehade is certified by DOCS (Dental Organization for Conscious Sedation) to perform oral conscious sedation, otherwise known as Sedation Dentistry. Dr. Chehade resides in Vienna with his wife, Grace and their son Michael. An avid golfer, he spends as much time on the links as possible.
Dr. Faline Davenport
Dr. Davenport did her undergraduate work at George Mason University as the sole recipient of the Mason Scholar Scholarship. She received her dental degree from the Medical College of Virginia, School of Dentistry. She is currently a member of the Academy of General Dentistry as well as the Virginia Dental Association. Dr. Davenport has been named a Premier Provider for Invisalign - a status few Invisalign providers achieve. She continues to advance her expertise by taking many hours of continuing education, primarily with a focus towards cosmetic dentistry. She has attended the Dawson Center for the Advancement of Dentisty in St. Petersburg, FL with the intention of providing quality, predictable dentistry. Dr. Davenport and her family lives locally, close to her parents in Haymarket. Like our other doctors, Dr. Davenport enjoys volunteer work, sports, and spending time with her family. Her warm and caring manner has made her a favorite with our patients .
Dr. Donald Campbell
Dr. Donald Campbell graduated from Boston University (1967) and Tufts University School of Dentistry in 1971 Following graduation, Dr. Campbell served in the U.S. Army until his retirement in 1996. After retiring from the Army, he practiced in Maine for several years before relocating to Northern Virginia. Dr. Campbell is currently a member of the Northern Virginia Dental Society, the Virginia Dental Association, the American Dental Association and the Academy of General Dentistry. Dr. Campbell is Master in the Academy of General Dentistry (MAGD) and is a member of the American Board of General Dentistry. He and his wife, Joyce, live in Manassas with their two children, Leslie and Douglas. Dr Campbell is an avid baseball fan and enjoys jogging in his spare time.
Dr. Jason Abel
Dr. Abel completed his undergraduate schooling at the University of Virginia. He received his dental degree from Virginia Commonwealth University's Medical College of Virginia, School of Dentistry in 2005. He has advanced training and certification in Invisalign Orthodontics and the placement and restoration of dental implants. For the past 4 years Dr. Abel has volunteered his time to the Children's Wellness Festival sponsored by the Gainesville/Haymarket Rotary Club.This event allows underprivileged children to receive medical and dental screenings they would not otherwise have access to.
Dr. Abel is a true Northern Virginian having grown up in Vienna, VA. He moved to Piedmont in Haymarket in 2005. Dr. Abel enjoys working out/fitness, snowboarding, and spending time with friends and family. He plays in a men's baseball league here in Prince William County.
Dr. Carlos Aponte
Dr. Aponte attended Tufts University located in Medford, Massachusetts. Being a native of San Juan, Dr. Aponte returned to his home and received his dental degree at the University of Puerto Rico in 1983 where, subsequently, he and his wife, Dr. Maritza Diaz, also a dentist, established a successful dental practice. Drs. Aponte and Diaz and their 2 children relocated to No. VA in 2007. Both children are currently attending college.
Dr. Aponte has extensive training in all phases of general dentistry. He enjoys educating his patients about the latest in dental technology, materials and treatments offered at Gainesville Dental Associates. Dr. Aponte feels that armed with this knowledge, patients have the ability to choose the best options for their individual dental needs. "In dentistry, every day is a new day; new patients to serve, new challenges to face, new techniques to learn. To be able to take all the knowledge and experience you've collected and deliver the best possible service that you are capable of, for the benefit of your patients is a wonderful thing. Whether it is a simple filling or full-mouth rehabilitation - I love what I do." Dr. Aponte frequently volunteers @ the Fauquier Free Clinic.
Dr. Aponte is a self-described "sports fanatic". He played basketball and volleyball when younger, but is now an avid tennis player and enjoys sailing. He also loves to travel and learn about other countries and their cultures. He and his family enjoy returning to the Caribbean whenever they can.
Sherry Miller - Practice Administrator
'I am so proud to be a part of this wonderful practice. We have so much to offer our patients. We strive to be on the cutting edge of dental technology and have been paperless for years. Our 6 doctors are extremely skilled in various aspects of dentistry. This gives them the rare opportunity to share that skill and knowledge with each other. The patients are the beneficiaries of this collaboration'. Sherry entered dentistry in 1988. She was a dental assistant for 2 restorative practices in Fairfax County for 6 years. She enjoyed helping patients not only to envision, but to achieve their goal of dental health and beautiful smiles. She moved into Practice Management in 1994. She has been with Gainesville Dental Associates since January 2001.
Sherry is one of the rare natives to Northern Virginia, growing up in Fairfax County. She and her husband, Keith, moved to Haymarket in 2002. An empty nester, Sherry values any time she can spend with her 2 children, Sara and Corey. She volunteers often for the Middleburg Humane Foundation and takes great pleasure working with the shelter dogs and helping them to find their "forever homes". She also enjoys walking daily, gardening, her 2 dachshunds, Hildy and Frankie, and the view from her deck of Bull Run Mountain.
